What to see and do
The collection, diverse and regularly expanded, favours Swiss artists and those working outside the mainstream. Part of it can be viewed online. The route suits newcomers and seasoned art lovers alike, who are free to wander from room to room.
MAMCO has staged numerous exhibitions on the Swiss and international art scenes. It regularly hosts retrospectives, including those devoted to Martin Kippenberger, Jim Shaw, Sylvie Fleury, John Armleder and William Leavitt.
The layout of the spaces traces the history of how art has been displayed. Depending on the room, you pass through a studio, a collector’s apartment, a loft, a warehouse or a “white cube”. These varied spaces and hangings change the way you look at the works.
