    Discover Vevey on Foot

A Cultural Stroll from Place du Marché to the Swiss Museum of Games

Discover Vevey, the jewel of the Vaud Riviera, on an enchanting walk that takes you from the historic Place du Marché to the Swiss Museum of Games in La Tour-de-Peilz. This lakeside stroll invites you to explore the soul of this “city of images”, blending photographic heritage, cinematic tributes and culinary culture.

The walk begins on the Place du Marché (Grande Place), the beating heart of Vevey for centuries. Ranked among the most beautiful squares in Switzerland, this iconic square has hosted a colourful market every Tuesday and Saturday morning since 1808. It is also home to the famous Grenette, a 16th-century former grain hall.

Continue along the Quai Perdonnet, a magnificent promenade lining Lake Geneva. This elegant thoroughfare is named after Louis Perdonnet, a pioneering engineer of the Swiss railways. As you walk, let yourself be captivated by the breathtaking views of the lake, the terraced vineyards of Lavaux rising to the east, and the Alpine peaks on the horizon.

    Did you know ?

Wondering why so many food giants have settled in Vevey ? The answer is simple : in the 19th century, the purity of the lake water and the quality of local milk attracted Henri Nestlé, who invented the first powdered infant milk there in 1867. The rest is history…

    Château de l'Aile de Vevey

Continue your stroll to the statue of Charlie Chaplin, installed in 2016 to mark the centenary of his famous character. The British filmmaker, who spent the last 25 years of his life in Corsier-sur-Vevey, is celebrated today at Chaplin’s World, a fascinating museum dedicated to his world.

A few steps further, admire the Alimentarium Fork, an impressive 8-metre sculpture planted in the lake. Just behind it, discover the Alimentarium, the world’s first museum dedicated to food, where interactive exhibitions and workshops invite young and old alike to explore the world of taste.

As you pass our partner, the Grand Hôtel du Lac, treat yourself to a gourmet break or a moment on the terrace in the warmer months, before following the pedestrian quays towards La Tour-de-Peilz and its Swiss Museum of Games, housed in a medieval castle holding more than 10,000 games from around the world.
