Overview

Chaplin’s World by Grévin pays tribute to Charlie Chaplin in Corsier-sur-Vevey. The 4-hectare estate brings together the family home, a modern building called “The Studio” and a wooded park with views of Lake Geneva and the Alps.

The Manoir de Ban, a neoclassical mansion built in 1840, was bought by Chaplin in 1952. He lived there with his wife Oona and their eight children until his death in 1977, after a life marked by fame, controversy and exile from the United States. The museum combines archives, personal belongings, sets and wax figures.

What to see and do

In the Manoir, the living quarters display the original furniture and personal items : the living room where Chaplin entertained Winston Churchill and Sophia Loren, his study, the dining room and his bedroom. Screenings and multimedia installations shed light on his private life and creative process.

The Studio takes you through his films via life-size sets : the cabin from “The Gold Rush”, the factory from “Modern Times” and the shack from “The Kid”. More than 30 wax figures made by the Grévin museum depict the Tramp and other screen legends.

The park is perfect for a stroll among century-old trees, facing the lake and mountains. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions on Chaplin’s work and his contemporaries.
