Overview
Les Cerlatez Nature Centre opened in 1993 in the hamlet of Les Cerlatez, between Saignelégier and Tramelan. Founded by the Les Cerlatez Foundation, its mission is to inform, research and protect wetlands, particularly peat bogs.
It is housed in the hamlet’s former schoolhouse, right next to Étang de la Gruère, a nature reserve of national importance. Part of the Doubs Regional Nature Park, it belongs to the region’s environmental education network and mainly welcomes school classes and small groups.

What to see and do
The temporary exhibitions change with the seasons and explore themes related to nature and biodiversity. Waymarked educational trails then let you discover the reserve at your own pace.
Guided tours around Étang de la Gruère explain how peat bogs form and function, their biodiversity and the threats they face. Other activities follow in the footsteps of the lynx or of former smugglers, blending local history with nature observation.
Hands-on workshops round out the programme, such as building swallow nest boxes or sensory nature discovery activities. Activities, tours and workshops are open to everyone.
