L’Appartement, Espace Images is a photography exhibition space set in a former apartment at Vevey railway station. Here you can discover temporary exhibitions designed for its living spaces, blending contemporary photography with a domestic setting.
Main highlights
- Photography exhibitions by emerging and established photographers, changed regularly
- A real apartment that retains its furniture, living spaces and original layout
- Multimedia installations with video projections, interactive displays and sound works
Overview
L’Appartement, Espace Images occupies the 2nd floor of the main hall of Vevey railway station, in the flats that once housed railway workers’ families. The venue turns a living space into a photography gallery, with no neutral white walls.
It is linked to the Festival Images Vevey and operates as a permanent laboratory where new ways of presenting photography are tested. The images are integrated into a living space, raising questions about the place of images in the domestic environment.

What to see and do
The venue presents regularly changing temporary exhibitions devoted to emerging photographers as well as established artists. Each exhibition is designed for the apartment : the staging makes use of the rooms, from the bathroom to the kitchen, in connection with the subject of the series on display.
Themes vary but often return to private space, family memory, identity or everyday life. The works are thus seen in a context close to the visitor’s own.
Alongside prints, the apartment hosts multimedia installations : video projections, interactive displays and sound works. The small size of the rooms brings visitors very close to the works, much closer than in a museum.
Practical information
Access : the space is on the 2nd floor of the main hall of Vevey railway station, directly accessible by train.
Guided tours : available on request for groups or according to the schedule published by the venue.

Visiting tips
Take your time : the visit unfolds room by room, observing the relationship between the images and the space. Check the theme of the current exhibition before you come, as each show is built around a specific concept. Once there, feel free to ask the mediators questions.
