Overview
Founded in 1774, the MAHF is Fribourg’s cantonal museum of art and history. It occupies two historic buildings of national importance : the Hôtel Ratzé, built between 1581 and 1584, and a former slaughterhouse on the other side of the Rue de Morat.
An underground passage connects the two wings. The collections reflect the canton’s cultural history from the 11th to the 20th century and include pieces of international significance, such as early medieval belt buckles and the Easter Sepulchre from the Maigrauge convent.
